I am a compassionate and highly experienced Registered Nurse and Health and Social Care Leader, with over two decades of experience across acute healthcare and specialist social care services.
My career began with a Modern Apprenticeship at George Eliot Hospital, where I achieved NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and established a strong foundation as a Healthcare Support Worker before progressing into theatre practice. I qualified as a nurse in 2006, completing a Diploma in Nursing following a range of placements at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield General Hospital, and Leicester General Hospital. These placements provided me with valuable experience across acute, community, mental health, and children’s services.
After qualifying, I worked as a Scrub Nurse in theatre and further advanced my practice through continued professional development with De Montfort University, achieving a dual Anaesthetic Technician role. I have extensive perioperative experience across a broad range of specialties, including trauma, emergency surgery, plastics, upper gastrointestinal, colorectal, vascular, orthopaedics, obstetrics, paediatrics, hepatobiliary, gynaecology, and ENT. This diverse clinical exposure strengthened both my technical expertise and my ability to remain calm, decisive, and patient-focused in high-pressure environments.
Driven by a passion for holistic and person-centred care, I later transitioned into social care leadership, progressing to Registered Manager of a residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and profound needs. During my leadership, the service achieved an Outstanding rating in Care with CQC, reflecting my commitment to strong governance, continuous quality improvement, staff development, and best practice.
I now work as Occupational and Health Lead at Heroic Care, where I coordinate complex health and psychiatric care, promote health education and wellbeing initiatives, and support occupational health for staff.
