With more than 14 years of experience as a qualified learning disability nurse and a total of 25 years working with individuals with learning disabilities and complex healthcare needs, I bring a wealth of expertise to my role.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various healthcare settings, including NHS residential homes, community health facilitation in Birmingham, a children's and young person's hospice, and most recently as a Primary Care Liaison Nurse in Leicestershire.
My primary focus as a nurse has been on addressing the health disparities faced by individuals with learning disabilities. This entails providing support to individuals, their families, carers, healthcare professionals, support staff, and social care colleagues to overcome barriers to good health and promote holistic well-being. My efforts in reducing health inequalities have been recognized locally, and I have received awards for my contributions in this area. I have also been honoured as a finalist for a prestigious national Nursing Times Award.
In pursuit of my special interest in end-of-life care, I have completed various training programs. These include a postgraduate nursing module specifically dedicated to end-of-life care, advanced care planning, and effective communication strategies. I am excited to be part of our Health & Wellbeing team. Our intention is to bring Health & Wellness to everyone within our organisation.
